Kanela Bar is very Spanish indeed . . . customers served by Spanish staff, sip Spanish beer and sangria, munch on tapas and watch flamenco…the atmosphere welcomes all!

The first thing you notice when you walk into the front bar is the art work... a mixture of contemporary paintings, classic traditional pieces and murals that bring together the authenticity of Spain and a fusion which is Fitzroy. 

It is a genuine tapas bar; where you can pull up a stool, order up a glass of Rioja and snack all night on saucy, spicy Spanish tidbits...See our head barman Michael for his legendary selection of flamenco cocktails. - Ole!

The bar is very well stocked with a wide selection of Spanish, international and Australian wines, spirits, liquors, ports, sherry, cocktails, beers and traditional Spanish drinks. Have you ever tried a 'Sol y Sombra'? A must try!!

 "I slouch there, time slips and slides, attentive waitpersons bring Estrella. I realise the futility of timepieces in such a place. Tapas arrive - sardinas, certainly. The dali-esque light fittings, themselves worth visiting Kanela to see, hint and promise at flowing skirts. Get there early - about two hours early and you will have the complete experience. Young and mid-30s women and men, the students from the flamenco school, the local Spanish gentlepersons .. we are all there for the perfection in everything, the unwavering hospitality, the food, the margaritas. In the dozen times I have visited, I feel yet more at home than I ever thought possible. The dancing starts... Hours later, I promise yet again to return."
